Will You Ever Love Your Job?

Saturday, May 07, 2016

I have heard so many people saying
"I love my job"
but the other half curse their job in the most hateful way.
Which one is accurate?

We've been talking so much about the working life in the past few weeks. With all the friends who either just graduated, or have graduated for a while. Even after a couple of years after graduating, they still talk about it a lot. They are still in the search of what job is best for them for the rest of their career. Anyway, with some friends who have been working for more than 8 months, many of them got really bored/ frustrated/ tired with their job. It got really interesting until we reach the point when we question, if we will ever love our jobs.

Personally, eventually we will love our job. Four things to it:

1. Find a job that suits you best.

Eventually we will love our job, when we've discovered what really suits with us to do. Only, whether you can/ cannot reach that discovery part depends on how patient and driven you are in carrying on with looking for what suits you best. How many great people have you read about, and they went through so many other jobs they don't like until they find what they love, and they are great at it, and dedicate themselves in there for the rest of their life. Also, if you're still at uni, or even highschool, it's always good to do internship and work experiences, so you won't spend too much time later finding out.

2. Loving your job doesn't mean you love the every single second of it.
Even Nicole Warne from Garypeppergirl, must once have been so tired of her blogging life, endorsing brands, reading e-mails, meeting people, being interviewed with the same questions, flight-mode life and the list goes on, despite on how glamorous it seems on her Snapchat.  The thing is, no matter how you love the field you work in, you must feel tired once in a while. You'll be like "Okay, today I don't want to touch Photoshop" if you were a graphic designer. You don't want to do what you've been doing everyday for a day. You want to get out of it, and do something else, just for a day though. Because when the job suits you, eventually you'll miss doing it. So one day when you feel like you hate your job, probably you just need a refreshment. Meet your friends, watch Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2 (Lol, but seriously. This Indonesian movie was so exciting to watch).
3. Love your job.
You've heard this 10000000 times maybe. But easier said than done. Well, wake up everyday and think about a goal you're aiming, challenge yourself to go the extra mile to stand out, think about the little to big rewards you get for doing more than your colleague. Do it with enthusiasm as if you were doing it for God, that works for me. Be more loyal in your job, give yourself a little bit more time to know if you can love it. Watch out, a lot of time, the grass is always greener on the other side.
 4. Create that job you like.

If the job that you like is not out there yet, create it.
Sophia Amoruso, the great gal behind the trending #girlboss, and the founder of The Nasty Gal. She has been working in different areas, none she liked. Finally she started a little vintage shop on eBay, until she created The Nasty Gal (She didn't discover that multi-million dollar online store. She created it).

Why am I so sure that you can love (or try to love) your job? I'm no expert but in fact I've seen so many someone's dads or moms work in a company for like more than 25 years. There must be a way to it. Ask them! Consult with them knowing more.

And for those who know that you love what you doing, don't take it for granted and i'm happy for you!

Anyways, last week we went to Olivier, loving the space so much. Especially how they have the half outdoor part. Food was decent, service was good too. Everything was well-thought, I think. (Especially how they put 4 lychees in the lychee tea haha! Unlike the other places with only 1 or 2.) Here are some photos!

Laters, lovelies!
Enjoy your weekend

  3. Love this post - I recently quit my job because it just wasn't making me happy. Love no.2. When I was deciding whether to leave my job I used to come home and after each day write whether it was a good or a bad day as it's so easy to forget about the good ones.

  7. That's such a cute scarf and I love your shoes! Those are great points. I've worked for three years now and gotta say I really do love my job.. Like you said in point 2, some days were annoying and at times I'd feel like I needed a getaway from work. Which I did, but that doesn't mean I would trade my job for any other job in the world :D And it's a great feeling to really be passionate at work. Another thing if I may add, saying "I hate my job" really does no one any good. It makes things worse because if you're not motivating yourself, no encouragement from other people would work! I hope you settle in a job that you really love though. Whatever that is, the journey's gonna be so fulfilling.

Oh that's so good to hear (I feel good hearing people say that they love their job), you gotta be grateful!
That's so true. Most of the time, it's just you against yourself isn't it?
